Chiune Sugihara sakura park (Vilnius)

The park was created on September 2nd, 2001 to mark the 100 anniversary of Chiune Sugihara. 200 sakura trees were planted.
Chiune Sugihara (1 January 1900 – 31 July 1986) was a Japanese diplomat. With Netherlands consul Jan Zwartendijk and other people contribution Sugihara gave transit visas to Jews and saved them from the Holocaust.
