After opening late last year, Grand Tavern has closed its doors at just shy of three months in business.

The bar was one of two enterprises that took over square footage formerly occupied by Marshall’s in Grandview. Delaney’s Diner opened next door at 1105 W. First Ave. in August 2023, with Grand Tavern followed at 1111 W. First Ave. in November 2023.

“We have closed! It was fun for a minute,” a post on Grand Tavern’s Facebook Page shared.

The post details various frustrations with the property’s owners and the building’s quality.

“I was being extorted for $10k and I refused to pay,” the post read. “And after threatening to lock me out multiple times I walked away, for my own sanity. I have copies of wire transfers verifying the rent was paid on time every month. I put large amounts of money and time into replacing equipment and refurbishing a tired smelly bar.”

A since-deleted post also advised prospective tenants to do their due diligence when inquiring about the space.
