Brick gothic church by Benjamin Mountfort. Foundation stone laid in 1884, church opened in 1885. Mountfort was an active member of the congregation, when he died the tower, projected but not built, was constructed as a memorial to him. This is Mountfort's only brick church in NZ. Due to the development of industry in the area the surrounding area has changed from being predominately residential to light industrial. This church is now the centre for the Anglican Maori Mission.
