The Tyler Davidson Fountain is regarded as the city's symbol and is one of the area's most-visited attractions. It was dedicated in 1871 and is the centerpiece of Fountain Square.

Although the sculpture's proper name is "The Genius of Water", the fountain is named for the man who commisioned it. It is more commonly referred to as "The Fountain".
