PJSC "YUZHMORMONTAZH" COMPANY has appeared on the map of the sea transport line of the USSR as a company with a very important target - to renew the sea transporting and shipbuilding fields in the postwar time. So, on the 5th day of June, 1944 in accordance with the radiogram of the chief of Assembling-Renewing Department of the Black - Azov Seas, Kherson Assembling-Renewing Sector was created, but it was renamed into Kherson Assembling-Renewing Department, and later was renamed as Southern Assembling Direction – “Yuzhmormontazh”.

The targets that the company had - were the renewing, building of reloading complexes and assembling lifting (weight carrying) shipbuilding cranes on the objects of the Black and Azov Seas. Later on, the company started working on the objects of the Caspian Sea and on the whole territory of the USSR. The Private Joint-Stock Company "Yuzhmormontazh" was created in 1944 on the basis of this above mentioned structure.

Plant activity includes:

- Assembling portal cranes
- Assembling coal cranes
- Assembling container port and back cranes
- Assembling bridge, gantry and special cranes
- Assembling shiploading equipment and specialized complexes
- Assembling bucket-wheel excavators, reclaimers and car dumpers
- Assembling steel designs of buildings and constructions
- Technical diagnostics and expert inspection of crane and hoisting equipment
- Repairing, dismantling cranes and loading devices
- Transportation and transfer of cranes in one piece (without dismantling)
- Anticorrosion treatment and painting of metal constructions
- Production and delivering of spare-change parts, component parts, tool sets
- Production and capital repair of grabs
- Production of crane electric power columns

Within the period of existence of “Yuzhmormontazh” our specialists made an installation of cargo-hauling machinery and facilities in the following countries: Cuba, Vietnam, Iran, Georgia, Russia, Yugoslavia, Yemen, Albania, etc. Up to 90% of all portal cranes (derrick tower gantries) in the ports situated on the Black Sea, Sea of Azov and Caspian Sea and in the river harbours of Ukraine were mounted by the specialists of our company.

Among the biggest projects are: assembling of the equipment of the coal loading complexes in Mariupol and Yuzhnij ports, ore complex in Nikolaev port; services at the coal terminal at the East port; building of phosphorus terminal of the Yuzhnij port, building of container manufacture at the shiprepairing factory of Illichevsk, building of the shop of lighter manufacture at Kiliysk Ship-Repair Yard, roll-trailer plant in Aralsk. The specialists of our company have assembled hundreds of portal cranes produced by Kranbau Eberswalde and Ganz Danubius, both at the seaports and shipbuilding yards in the CIS (Commonwealth of Independent States).

The Private Joint-Stock Company ''Yuzhmormontazh'' was awarded with the following national awards: ''Golden trade mark'' in 2002, '''Business image'' in 2004. We have gained certificates of the European Market Research Center. We have also gained certificates of quality management system ISO 9001:2000. The company is a member of the Association of Ports of Ukraine ''Ukrport''.
