  • This tunnel was found in 2003 after being lost for more than 42 years. Kansas City Missouri knew it was there, they just could not find it. Luckly, it was found, and is being preserved.
  • This Tunnel was not found in 2003, but in 1996 before the construction of the State Street parking garage. It was built in 1887 and was closed in 1956. It was lost of the years and new construction in the Garment District. There are alot of historical picture's on the Kansas City, MO Public Library website. It is truely an amazing structure to see.
  • Just for those to know, the entrance to the tunnel is directely behind the Folder Coffee company. You will see what looks like a railroad line running torward it, but that's the old street car tracks.
  • The tunnel has never been lost. Railfans in the area (including me) remember the top of the east entrance visible at the west side of a parking lot west of 8th and Washington. It now under State Street Bank. . . . The track behind Folder Coffee was Kansas City Southern. The bridge to it is still over I-35 to the north on May St.
