Ayni Air Force Base, or Gissar Air Base, is a military air base in Tajikistan just 10 km west of the capital Dushanbe. It was used as a military base during the Soviet era, but its infrastructure has deteriorated significantly since then.
India has renovated the air base in mid 2000s. It was expected to become Indian military base situated in a foreign country However, related media reports were repeatedly denied by Tajik officials. As of July 2010 India has no millitary presence in Tajikistan.
