Manhattan Plaza Apartments I (New York City, New York)

428-foot, 46-story residential building completed in 1977. Designed by David Todd & Associates, it is the eastern of the two towers in the complex. The tower, clad in rust-red brick with grey exposed floorplates, wraps around a 1-story retail base at the southeast corner. There is a roof deck with trees on the 1-story base. The northeast corner of the lot has an entrance plaza, with a rounded glass canopy extending out from the entry doors to 43rd Street. At the north wing of the building, the ground floor is faced in beige stucco and is occupied by ESCA restaurant. The rest of the ground floor is occupied by a Starbucks coffee, Manhattan Plaza Winery, Chirping Chicken restaurant, a Citibank branch, West Bank Cafe, and Ollie's restaurant.

The facades are lined with bays of various windows, some paired, mostly linearly aligned, although at some floors there are wider spaces. There are angled windows at the intersections of the various wings. Numerous columns of projecting grey concrete balconies also line the facades, beginning at either the 4th or 8th floor, and skipping the 14th floor. Although the balconies in each column are of matching sizes, there are variations in the grey metal railings - with different alignments of the solid metal panels and metal bars. The balconies end at the top 15 floors, where the facades project out to the edges of the balcony railings below.
