The Standard was a hotel and then a pub for most of its history, before it became a dedicated entertainment venue in 1986. It went on to host artists including Suzi Quatro and Kula Shaker, as well as alternative comedy stars Alan Davies, Harry Enfield and Jack Dee until its closure in 2011.
