This junction is popularly called Atomic Junction because it initially was just a road leading off the main Accra - Aburi road to the Ghana Atomic Energy Commission offices at Kwabenya. The other notable places that were originally on the road leading west from here were the National Rabbit Project led by Mr. Newlove Mamatta and the Gordon Tye and Dye business.

The road east, popularly called Madina New Road leads into Madina. Going north heads towards Aburi and south towards the University at Legon and Accra.

There is a fly-over under construction at this intersection at present.

Hotel angelina (Formerly Bayview Hotel) is close by.
