Historic power station built in 1933. The facility now serves many of the federal buildings located in the National Mall vicinity. The Treasury Department provided funds for the construction of the plant under the auspices of the New Deal, a broad-reaching set of government agencies initiated to provide economic stimulus during the Great Depression.
