In 1932-1941 and 1943-1966 GPU/NKVD,MGB/KGB was located at 44, Artema Street.
Building of this house on Shchorsa Street was built in 1966 by arhchitect of Donbasgrazhdanproect Alvian Platonovych Strashnov (1914-1986).

In 1966 security service was moved to this building at 62, Shchorsa Street.

In 1991 local KGB was transformed to SBU.

At 03:32 am on the 7th of April 2014 the building was captured by local separatists and Russian mercenaries nedelya-ua.com/news/zahvacheno-upravlenie-sbu-v-donecke

As of now it is supposed to be the most severe penal occupational institution in Donetsk.
