Salt Creek Beach Park

USA / California / Dana Point / Pacific Coast Highway (SR 1), 33333
 beach, park

Salt Creek has 18 acres of public beaches, with convenient (pay) parking. Look for the entrance at Pacific Coast Highway and Ritz Carlton Drive, located between the towns of Dana Point and South Laguna.

A small offshore reef creates great swells, which is why this beach is loved by surfers. It's also loved by swimmers and body surfers, sunbathers, and tidal pool explorers (remember that all tide pool creatures are protected and should not be handled or moved—not even a few inches).

Facilities include restrooms, outside showers, and in spring and summer a food concession where beach lovers can grab a quick bite.

Nice beach, but not good if you're a family hauling a bunch of family crap. You know, ice chests, chairs, umbrellas, toys, bags of towels and food, an annoying wife getting fatter by the hour, bratty little kids, a teenage son that's too cool to be seen with the family and bitches sarcastically the whole time. It's a long, uphill walk back to the car and chances are, the rest of the family isn't going to bring anything back up the hill with them but a crapload of sand that's going to get all over the inside of the car. Just buy them a Wii and go to the beach by yourself.

Quite possibly the best comment for a beach EVER. I grew up on that beach and he's 100% correct. Used to see that kind of stuff everyday in the summertime.
