Construction completed in 1903, this hydroelectric power dam on the St. Joseph river is owned and operated by Indiana Michigan Power Co. Twin Branch is a gravity dam, of earthen construction, timber crib. The core is upstream facing, concrete. The foundation is assumed to be rock, soil. Its height is 23.2 feet with a length of 402 feet. Maximum discharge is 37600 cubic feet per second. Its capacity is 9700 acre feet. Normal storage is 9700 acre feet. It drains an area of 3530 square miles.
The dam marks the end of the spawn run for Steelhead trout and Coho salmon from Lake Michigan.
