The church is still being built following the directions of Antoni Gaudí. Plans include a 170 meter high central tower. The construction is financed by donations of visitors and people of Barcelona.
Although incomplete, the church is a UNESCO World Heritage Site, and in November 2010 Pope Benedict XVI consecrated and proclaimed it a minor basilica, as distinct from a cathedral which must be the seat of a bishop.

  • One crazy dude, that Gaudi. Pretty bizarre design. Wouldn't mind being around in a hundred years or so to see it completed.
