BNSF Railway's Donkey Creek Junction is located on their mainline connecting Alliance, Nebraska, and Billings, Montana. Heading south from here is another mainline which provides access to 11 large open pit coal mines in Wyoming's Powder River Basin. Together these mines produce nearly 400 million tons of coal a year, most of which feeds powerplants producing electricity.
