Foxbar derives it's name from 'hill of the foxes', after it's large population of wild foxes. Paisley’s boundaries were extended as a result of The Housing Act of 1946. Provisions were made for the addition to existing estates. Foxbar was built on the former site of the bleachworks, and was initiated in 1952, and completed in 1965, and was the first estate in Renfrewshire to include high flats.
