Built in 1899 to house the Government Printing Offices. Notice the unusual structure of the building which has no columns running in the middle of the building. This allows it to accomodate the large printing machinery. The upper portion of the building is decorated with semi-circular windows and keystones. In 1986, a massive renovations were carried out to house the library. The canopy roof was retained from the earlier renovation. It open its doors to the public on 15 June 2004.

The Kuala Lumpur Library houses more than 50,000 volumes of books that range from children's books to specialized books like architecture and computer related titles. There are also plenty of audio and video materials for a more entertaining learning experience. The library consists of two floors plus a basement with facilities that can be rented.
