The Hotel Irvington, demolished in 2006, occupied this corner since the nineteenth-century. The first hotel, built ca. 1880 was destroyed by fire within a decade and quickly re-built. The second hotel survived until 1916 until it, too, was destroyed by fire. The building was constructed sometime between 1916 and 1919 on the same site. Its exterior was extensively remodeled in 1968. Like Taylor's Antiques across the street, it was removed as part of the Washington Blvd. Grade Separation project.
