Appleton International Airport is in Outagamie County, Wisconsin, just west of Appleton, in the town of Greenville. It is the fourth-busiest commercial airport in Wisconsin. Situated near the Fox River in northeast Wisconsin, the airport serves the city of Appleton and surrounding communities with flights to eight major hubs. It operates a 24 hour, 365 day a year operation. As such, the airport is a key ingredient to northeastern Wisconsin’s economic growth and quality of life. It contributes close to $1 billion indirectly into the region’s economy.
Appleton International Airport serves the citizens and business community of the Fox Cities and Northeast Wisconsin by operating the facilities necessary to support commercial and general aviation activities. In addition, the airport is host to a multitude of support businesses such as a parking facility, car rental agencies, restaurant/lounge, hotel, fixed based operators, gift shops, airfreight companies, and custom brokerage. Additionally, the airport has a U.S. Customs office stationed onsite for those who wish to enter or exit the United States.
The airport also serves as a major hub for the nearby NFL team the Green Bay Packers. It is also the airport utilized by visiting teams who come to play the team. The airport also serves as the main hub for people traveling to EAA Airventure.
It is the main base of privately owned regional airline Air Wisconsin and was the original home of Midwest Airlines. Midwest Airlines grew out of Kimberly-Clark subsidiary K-C Aviation. K-C Aviation is now part of Gulfstream Aerospace.
