Chapel of Ivan Rilski

The name of the chapel "Holy Father" comes from the rocky saddle hanging over Sandanska Bistrica River, where it was built. There is a legend associated with the place that says that prior to retire in the Rila Monastery St. Ivan Rilski lived here. The chapel has a length of 8 m and is 6 m wide. The holiday of the chapel is 19 October, and every year on that date, people gather here from nearby villages Lilyanovo, Golyam Tsalim, Vihren and from Sandanski to honor the saint.
