This is a rural subdivision founded in the early 1970s in the northwest quarter of section 36-139-79, Gibbs Township three miles west of Menoken, and just south of County Road 10 (Old US Highway 10). The name notes its location near Apple Creek, and although it remains an unincorporated settlement, it is the largest population center between Bismarck and Steele.
