Tazumuddin Upazila (Bhola district) with an area of 512.92 sq km, is bounded by Daulatkhan upazila on the north, Lalmohan and Manpura upazilas on the south, Hatiya upazila on the east, Burhanuddin upazila on the west. Shabajpur Channel covers the half of total area of the upazila.
The location of the Tazumuddin town is 22.412738N 90.8515881E. Tazumuddin (Town) consists of two mouzas. The area of the town is 13.7 sq km. It has a population of 15747; male 52.07%, female 47.93%; density of population is 1149 per sq km. Literacy rate of the town is 35.2%. It has one dakbungalow.
Tazumuddin thana was turn into an upazila in 1983. The upazila consists of 5 union parishads, 16 mouzas and 62 villages.
Historical events About 22 thousand people of the upazila lost their lives in a devastating cyclone and tidal bore in 1970.
As of the 1991 Bangladesh census: Population 116422; male 51.94%, female 48.06%; Muslim 86.08%, Hindu 13.39%, others 0.53%.
