The Guodu Base was constructed as a H-5 bomber base, with an underground hangar equipped with two 20 metre entrances, and an internal length of at least 500 metres. The auxiliary runway is of sufficient length to permit both landings and takeoffs, with the entrances difficult to attack in the canyon between two mountains.
