When Levittown was developed, the master plan included four "Village Greens" corresponding to the cardinal directions; North, South, East and West to include park land, a swimming pool and local businesses.

Since musician Billy Joel grew up not far from here, this is most likely the "village green" referred to in Billy Joel's song "Scenes From an Italian Restaurant".
