NATO Reporting name : Yug class expeditionary oceanographic vessel
"Створ : Stvor " (Alignment)
176th Hydrographics Battalion
422nd Hydrographics Division
commissioned.1983
The tasks of the modern Navy performed far from coastal areas in the world’s deep oceans need to extend work on the study of oceans and seas. The most attention should be paid to the study of hydrological conditions in the oceans and seas, it was necessary, primarily for diving submarines in remote ocean areas to research this bathymetric information. Therefore, in the early 60's, along with scientific research vessels of the Academy of Sciences of the USSR, a ship design was introduced to study specific issues of oceanography of military significance.
From 1978 to 1990 for the Soviet Navy built a series of consecutively two hydrographic vessels secondary displacement. Initially it was built 18 vessels pr.862 (1977-83 years), then 2 hydrographic vessel pr.873 (1990 and 1991). These vessels had a total displacement of 2,500 to 3,500 tons, speed 15 knots and the cruising range to 9,000 miles. The propulsion system of two Sulzer diesel engines and two four-bladed propellers diameter of 2.7 meters ensures full speed of 15.9 knots, cruising range of 8000 miles at a speed of economic progress of 13 knots. As an auxiliary propulsion motors are installed and bow thruster. The vessel has a cargo hold of 100 cubic meters, and there is a possibility of stowing further deck cargo. Radio technical means are represented by two radar "Don" and the defendant of gosopoznovaniya "Chrome-K. Endurance of the ship is 40 days.
Hydrographic vessel " Stvor " was built in 1983 in Poland, The vessel was part of the 176-th separate division of oceanographic research vessels, the largest compound Hydrographic Service of the CCF.
