Nickname given by the U.S. Air Force since the 1950's, ICBM Row consisted of launch pads that were used to test the Atlas and Titan Intercontinental Ballistic Missle (ICBM). The Atlas ICBM would be later converted for space use in support of Project Mercury and has evolved today into the the Atlas V EELV, while the Titan ICBM, which was used for Project Gemini, would be also used as a space launcher, but was retired in 2005 due to Lockheed Martin's need to compete against Boeing and its Delta IV EELV.
