The Park Tower, built by acclaimed architects Richard Robin Seifert & Partners, opened its doors in the heart of Knightsbridge on June 21, 1973. Prime Minister Edward Heath did the official honors. Architecturally speaking, the hotel's inventive circular shape and panoramic windows affording 360-degree views were considered extremely avant-garde for the time.

It became a Sheraton in 1977. When Starwood bought Sheraton, they moved the hotel from Sheraton to The Luxury Collection division, but somewhat confusingly kept the Sheraton name on the hotel for many years until it was renamed in 2013, for its 40th anniversary, as The Park Tower Knightsbridge.
