Founded in 1994 by Count Guy Tyrel de POIX, French wine producer, owner of 50 ha of vineyards in Corsica (Domaine Peraldi) and heir of an old French noble family, S.E.R.V.E. was the first private owned wine company and has started its activity as a distributor of Romanian wines, bottled under its own brand: Vinul Cavalerului (Knight’s Wine).

S.E.R.V.E.’s main goal was, since the beginning, to promote Romanian wines on foreign markets and to change the image of these wines on the domestic market. The reality of the ’90s brought into discussion the lack of a constant supply of quality wines. Thus, the founder, Mr. Guy Tyrel de Poix, decided that the company’s strategy should consist of the following development stages:

In 1995 - establishment of the cellar and first vinification
In 1998 - starting viticulture
Starting with 1999 - setting up new plantations on a regular basis
In 2000 - setting up a new winery
In 2000 - first Cuvée: blend of reds aged in new oak bariques for minimum 10 months
In 2005 - beginning of the creation of a new range of wine, Terra Romana, limited edition, exclusive to restaurants
The first crop of grapes from the Dealu Mare vineyardwas processed in 1995 in the Ceptura wine cellar and since, winemaking technological improvements have been madeevery year, together with conditioning, stocking and bottling modernization. All improving steps came from constant care to preserve the quality and consistency, so specific to the S.E.R.V.E. wines.

Currently, the Romanian investment is over 3.5 million euros for a 15.000 hl winery, 80 ha of vineyard (one to ten years old) and a bottling line of 2.000 bt / hour. We forecast that in the next three to five years all the land we have in full property will be planted, reaching a total of 120 ha.

A carefully balanced production (adapted to each variety and to the clientele of each product), the manual harvesting, the careful selectionof grapes both in the vineyard and in the cellar, the control of temperature during fermentation and the various blends made by a team of French oenologists lead to the particular quality of the wines produced by S.E.R.V.E., which have been awarded many medals in national and international competitions.
