This exquisitely beautiful palace was constructed by Babu Prabhat Chandra Dobe around 1901. Prabhat Chandra was the son-in-law of Raja Iswar Prasad Garga of Mahishadal having married Rajkumari Bibhabati Devi.The building was of mixed Gothic architecture and was principally designed by the family painter Shri Annada Charan Jana. The building with an immediate compound area of more than 25 acres was surrounded by a moat fitted with a draw-bridge initially and a concrete bridge later. Prabhat Chandra Dobe officiated as the Dewan of Mahishadal during the early part of 20th century - as a result of which the property came to be named as 'Dewan Saheber Kuthi'.
