Hawkhead Cemetery opened on the 13th April 1891, and covers 23 acres of ground. There is a memorial to the 70 children who were crushed to death at Paisley's Glen Cinema in December 1929. There is also a memorial to the 92 people who died on the night of 7th May 1941, when a parachute mine hit a First Aid post in Paisley.
