Originally the site of the Glasgow College Goods Yard - part of the former Glasgow City Union Railway - it has laid derelict since the 1960s Beeching railway cuts. It was never supposed to be derelict of course for so long, the path of the eastern flank of the abandoned Inner Ring Road was supposed to run straight through it. So instead - where cars were supposed to be belting through at 50mph, they have sat stationary, because for most of the last 50 years, the site has been an open air car park run by Glasgow City Council.

The site so far consists of an office building for council workers (consolidating various council offices that are scattered around the city centre onto one site), two blocks of student accommodation and a multi-storey car park.
