5 Aldermanbury Square is a 71 m (233 ft) 19-storey highrise building in the City of London. The building, designed by Eric Parry was constructed from 2004 to 2007 at a cost of £72,000,000. It has a floor area of 35,600 sq m (383,195 sq ft). Its design features a 34.5-metre deep footprint set along a north/south axis that is split into two separate wings with a recessed area in between. At the base of the building is a triple height entrance behind stainless steel columns, above which the next immediate three levels are articulated inside triple height window bays. Its recessed curtain wall is contained in double height window bays whilst the stainless steel clads the building all the way to the roof projecting past the stepped back upper floors to help form an outline. The stainless steel exterior conceals an external structural frame that allows the interior of the building to have column-free office space.
