A 1906 brick and wood frame building that survived the 1906 earthquake and then was used for several months as an infirmary, this church was built by Danish immigrants in what was then the Scandanavian-dominated Duboce-Market neighborhood (the novel "I Remember Mama" was set in the area). Today the church has a largely gay congregation and is known nationally in the Lutheran Church for its stance in favor of allowing gay people to become ministers.
