Former Courtauld's site - manufactured Carbon Disulphide & Hydrogen Sulphide in a continuous operation using liquid sulphur and natural gas (methane) as feedstocks. Also several different "fine" chemicals, all sulphur-bearing, commonly complex organic compounds; manufactured in batch processes in two small self-contained plants. Closed in 1997 (?) after acquisition by Akzo Nobel. Used as a test ground for several different soil remdiation & decontamination processes.
