Harris Theater (Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania)

USA / Pennsylvania / Pittsburgh / Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania / Liberty Avenue, 809
 theatre, cinema

The Harris Theater features contemporary, foreign and classic films, programmed by Pittsburgh Filmmakers. The under-200-seat venue also hosts small live performances. Built as the Art Cinema, it was the first commercial "art movie" house in the city; it later became an X-rated theater as this part of Liberty Avenue turned into a red light district. In 1995 the theater reopened under a name that honors John P. Harris, who co-founded the first Nickelodeon movie theater a few blocks away.
