Riverstone Lighthouse

Riverstone Lighthouse was erected in 1885. It was destroyed in during bushfires in the area. It is interesting to note that this inland lighthouse was located many miles away from the nearest navigatable waterways.

This important landmark still has sandstone foundations.

There is evidence of this former lighthouse. It was an important navigation aid to the passing sea-horses and land based horses that travelled between Parramatta Town and the Hawkesbury Farm Lands. The lighthouse signalled the half-way point on the North to South Windsor Road. Interestingly, Windsor Road today is now East to West.

I re-re-released this area in 1986 in my Rouse Hill Plan. It said that this area would be re-re-released in the 1990's. I was the Minister for the Department of Environment and Conservation before I became Premier. So why is Frank cpnserving this area? Does he want to buy the lands in this area and re-zone it for himself?

I wonder?

Having see this sight, I believe that the next America's Cup boat should be built here. This area provides secrecy.

It is with disgust to see that the NSW Government State Buget 2007 does not include money for the restoration of this hertiage lighthouse. The Premier's Infrastructure program still over looks this important State and National asset.

Went there on the week end. A very interesting place to visit. This is a national treasure that has been well hidden.

This is a very interesting area when you look into the history of this area. There was a proposal for a relatively large "Corner Store" proposed by Annie DYSON. This proposal was then on sold to a Grocer from Neutral Bay NSW Australia who realised Annie DYSON's Commercial Dream. The corner store or corner shop extended from Trafalgar Street to Milton Street a length of 240 feet or 73 metres. It was on of the first stores in Australia to have a "drive through" facility for the local horse and cart trade which had deliveries going to Windsor, Richmond and Hawkesbury and as far North as Wiseman's Ferry. There was an excellent trade in fresh meat which was slaughtered locally at the Riverstone Meatworks. The cattle were fattened up on the green local pastures which were renowned for there high quality.

Riverstone Lighthouse.

I first became aware of Riverstone Lighthouse when I was Central Park in New York. There I saw a proposal for the very new viewing platform.
