1794m. Contour shown at 1600m. This is the sacred place for Thousand of families in and around porangadu seemai(kotagiri region),Located at the altitude of 1800M Above MSL.Visited by devotees during the summer month and pray Lord Rangaswamy.
More correctly this is a holy site mainly for the Irulars Of Aracode ,Kokode and surrounding Irular villages-In over 15 years I had never witnessed any other people visiting-In years of low rainfall and difficult harvests the Irulars would offer special prayers(pooja)and I have never known the prayers to go unanswered-The Irulars are really an amazing race of hunter gatherer people but since the early seventies when the plantation owners like the Duncans and Hendersons left for distant countries the race disintegrated and spread-Some would say the Irulars needed to be more in step with today-Time has ansewred and shown that divided a house and culture will fail-So much the worse for mankind- The Irulars were really a race of gentle ,kind and free spirited people with a culture that has not been fully recorded-I learned much from them and am richer for the experience-Fourty years have passed and I plan to return to save whats left so that the people of India and the world might have the priviledge of knowing them too- Alan Duncan-Australia
