Kaluzhskaya Square (Moscow)

The name was taken from Kaluzhskiye Vorota (gates) of Zemlyanoy (Earthen) city.
In 1918-1992 it bore the name Oktyabrskaya pl. in honor of the Great October Socialist Revolution 1917.

The road to Kaluga begins here from of old.
The tallest monument to Lenin in Moscow was erected in 1985 in the center of the square.
