The Daskalov's House is one of the most beautiful early Revival houses preserved to this day. It was built from 1804 to 1808 for two of the sons of "chorbadji" (master) Hristo Daskalov. The most remarkable things about it are the wood carved ceilings in the two bedrooms. They were made after a wager between the old master and his "kalfa (apprentice) during a period of six months. The rooms are lit up by the rays of the calm May and hot July sun.
This noble competition is believed to be the first Bulgarian artistic competition. And who won the wager is something you will find out when you visit this wonderful place.
The Museum of Woodcarving is housed in the extension to the house.
