Non-flying RAF base - due to close in 2008.
Some offices are still located in or around RAF Innsworth.
After the closer they came under RAF Air Command.
Air Command is the only command currently active in the Royal Air Force.

The formation of Air Command was announced to Parliament by the Defence Secretary, Rt Hon Des Browne on 15 March 2007. Air Command was formed by the merger of Royal Air Force Strike and Personnel and Training Commands on 1 April 2007.

The Defence Secretary confirmed that the Command, headquartered at RAF High Wycombe, Buckinghamshire, would have a single Commander-in-Chief and two deputies. The Air Officer Commanding-in-Chief is Air Chief Marshal Sir Chris Moran. The Deputy Commander-in-Chief (Operations) is Air Marshal Iain McNicoll, and the Deputy Commander-in-Chief (Personnel) & Air Member for Personnel is Air Marshal Simon Bryant.

The Command consists of Nos 1, 2 and 22 Groups.
