Built in 1915, Beechwood Mansion was the private home of Charles Ed Ballard, a very wealthy local entrepreneur whose holdings included clubs/casinos, six circus companies and hotels, one of which is the West Baden Springs/Great Dome Hotel. Among the rich and famous who mingled at the mansion were composer Irving Berlin, fighter/boxer Joe Louis and public enemy Al Capone.

Beechwood Country Inn has been carefully restored to the same intriguing atmosphere as that of the early 1900's. Many of the furnishings are original pieces of the Ballard Family. These and other original period pieces enhance the grandeur of the home and should make your visit even more enjoyable.
