Shupiyan or Shopian is a town in the Indian state of Jammu and Kashmir. It is the administrative headquarters of the Shopian district.
ONE OF THE SMART DISTRICTS of Jammu and Kashmir. Shopian is situated at a distance of 51 Kms from Srinagar 20 Kms from Pulwama. It has decades old road connectivity with Anantnag as well as Kulgam. In The era by gone, Shopian was located on the famous Mughal road connecting Lahore and Srinagar. This old route has suffered from neglect during the last couples of centuries, expect being traversed Bakerwals and Gujjars on the eve of their seasonal migrations. The currently under construction Mughal road is now expected to link District Shopian with the Districts of Poonch and Rajouri. In the event of its completion this road would be an alternative link between the two administrative divisions of the state and likely to boost the economy of this proposed hill District besides increasing the administrative responsibilities of the District administration in the times to come.

    the place in itself is a masterpeice n my vocab is too weak to describe it in words. shopian has been given a step mother behaviour by all the politic parties rite 4m the beginning n we shopianities r proud of it..........we dnt care abt the damn politicians at all..........koi b ho we dnt need them we r still the best. historically the most important place of kashmir, islam came to kashmir via shupyan. shupyan has produced sm gr8 scholars too.........islam,fizx,agri,literature etc etc. i hv been out of shopian 4 last 7 years n rarely i get tym to visit, but simply i m obsessed with its beauty, location n climate. june july is the best period to visit.........n blv me if u visit in rest of the months too, u will enjoy more than anyyr. poor infrastructure but brave hearts u will find there. its my open chalenge that shopianities r on top of the list wn it comes to MEHMAAN NAWAZI
