The museum showcases the World War II aircraft carrier USS Intrepid, the submarine USS Growler, and a Concorde supersonic airplane. It is located in a tourist area, next to a cruise ship terminal, the Circle Line pier, and near the New York consulate of the People's Republic of China and a heliport. The Intrepid is also host to OSO Manhattan, a USMC recruiting station. The museum serves as a hub for the annual Fleet Week events. Visiting warships dock at the cruise ship terminals to the north, and events are held on the museum grounds and the deck of the Intrepid. In September 2001, the Intrepid served as temporary field headquarters for the FBI as it began its investigation of the 9/11 World Trade Center attacks. Category: museum aircraft carrier
