Mallard Lake Landfill

The Forest Preserve District opened the Mallard Lake landfill in 1974. It closed in 1999.
In 2005, the IEPA detected a hazardous chemical called vinyl chloride in the wells of several homes in Wayne Township near Carol Stream.
