Shikina-en Garden 識名園 (Naha)

This garden is comprised of the parkland of the detached villa of the Sho royal family. Originally constructed at the end of the 18th century, Shikina-en's central buildings, garden lanterns and the Chinese style stone bridge are surrounded by beautiful subtropical plants. The garden was closed after damage incurred in WW II but in the fall of 1995 it was reconstructed to its former beauty. In 2000 they were redesignated a Special Place of Scenic Beauty, and included within the inscription of the UNESCO World Heritage Site "Gusuku Sites and Related Properties of the Kingdom of Ryukyu".
