Historic hotel built in 1903 by architect Aleksandr Ivanov in an eclectic mix of Style Moderne and classical styles.

In 1918, Vladimir Lenin and his wife Nadezhda Krupskaya lived in this hotel after the Soviet Government moved from Petrograd to Moscow. Later hosted H.G. Wells. Used as a major location in the film "The Russia House", shot in 1989, then completely restored by the Intourist monopoly just as the Soviet state was falling in 1990-91. Was part of the Le Meridien chain for a number of years afterwards.
