Largest lake in South America and one of the World's oldest lakes. Fed by numerous rivers such as the Catatumbo and by sea water from the Caribbean it is a Brackish lake. It's a major source of income to the Venezuelan economy as the region is rich in oil deposits. Oil tankers leaving the lake pass under the General Rafael Urdaneta Bridge into the Gulf of Venezuela enroute to the Caribbean.
