Ten-story office building dating back to about 1906. Some old local newspaper articles refer to it as the first concrete building in Pittsburgh. In its early decades it housed the Bernard Gloekler Company, maker of equipment for food stores, hotels, bars and restaurants.

  • After a fire at the nearby Gloekler building at 1311 Penn Avenue, Mr. Bernard Gloekler decided his next building would be fireproof and so the concrete construction. For a short time it was the tallest building in Pittsburgh.
