The Royal Cambridge is one of the oldest hotels in Cambridge, and was once part of the world famous Addenbrooke’s Hospital.

This building is known as Scroope Terrace, which used to be a series of townhouses. The Hotel occupies 6-14 Scroope Terrace. There used to be a high-class boarding house run by Camilie “Pop” Prior at 8 Scroope Terrace. This is mentioned in the 1987 film "Life Story" as a place that James Watson went to be tutored in the French language.
